  • My profile picture is from when I worked the Common Ground Fair
last year.  I leave today to attend this year.  My spinning
group demonstrates for the public here every year.  This fair, put
on by MOFGA (Maine Organic Farmers
and Gardeners Association) is the largest of its kind (possibly the
only one of its kind) is put on by one of the largest organic
organizations in this country.  It has no midway or rides - but
there is a manure toss!  It promotes good stewardship of the earth
and celebrates rural living.  Everything sold at the fair must be
made or grown in Maine, and it must be organic.  It may not sound
like it, but this is one cool mofo fair, let me tell you!

When I get back on Sunday night, I will be exhausted - I am every
year.  So exhausted that I may sleep all the way thru my birthday
on Wednesday.  It sounds like the best way to celebrate turning 41
    that I can think of.

    AS FOR JOB HUNTING...
You haven't been quiet enough and I haven't caught one yet.  Not even a nibble.  Damn - time to change my aftershave!

  • I've often wondered about the picture, then I took a good long look and realised you were spinning. As far as the fair not sounding cool, it does to me! I love "uncommon" fairs like that.

I'll wait until next week to wish a very happy happy

    Have fun!

  • I think I saw something about that fair on PBS the other morning. I cannot remember if it was the exact same thing or not though.

  • have a gooooooood time... don't get dizzy from the spinning...

  • I just can't be that quiet. You wanna own a game store? You could do stained glass in back, yo!

And Happy Birfday! if I don't see you before then!

  • I've often wondered about that pic, too.
    Manure toss?
    Where do you live, darlin'?

  • That fair sounds like a blast! I hope you are enjoying yourself. Manure toss? LOL!

Continued best wishes with the job hunt! Cheers!!

  • My first husband (passed away 1995) used to work the Common Ground Fair in the early eighties. He sold hot tubs and llamas. We also used to go to the Healing Arts Festival in Freedom at Hidden Valley Campgrounds/LLama farm, but I think they changed locales since Jay Stager sold it.

  • I would also like to wish you a very Happy Birthday today! I hope you hve a wonderful celebration!

  • i hope they don't have manure cobbler at this thing.

  • Hehe at THYRIO. Ick.

Have you listened to those records yet? I'm hoping they're in decent shape. I haven't played them in about 100 years.

  • Shari, Happy [Belated] Birthday !
    Have a wonderful year.

    [And thanks for everything. ]

  • a few things...

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the very cute socks. those are so beautiful! I can't wait til his little feet can wear them (actually right now I just want to see his little feets so it means he's out of my body, ugh!) I'm very impressed with your skill. they truly are special, again thank you so much!

second, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I know I'm day late, I'm slow about everything these days... I hope you had a great one.

and lastly, that fair does sound very cool to me. I like the idea of promoting community and protecting the earth... I think those are two very ancient concepts we seem to have lost.

  • AND! I forgot... good luck with job hunting, I hope you find something perfect

  • A manure-toss makes anything cool.

I'm not sure what Maine's main (heh) industry is, but what about a job tossing manure?  The election is coming up, after all.

  • Thanks for your comment, Shari! I hope you had a wonderful birthday!

As for the jokey cloning pics on my site, I've been making my older blogs privatized so that people only comment on the current stuff. But if you'd like to see them all in a single Powerpoint presentation, I can e-mail it to you (though I will still eventually include all the animals in my blogs as I go forward). I'll just need your e-mail address again, please, because I think I lost it when my computer crashed in the summer.

    Have an awesome weekend!!

  • What about professional manure-tossing?

  • Manure toss?  Sounds like something I could have a go at!

  • I'd have thought there'd be something like that fair in California, but I've never heard of it if there is.
