From what I understand, what I've missed at xanga while while out living IRL the past couple of days is grumpy people sniping at each other about the election results.  It isn't much of a change from when I was here just before the election - grumpy people - so that doesn't worry me overmuch, although I do have to say it is sad that so many people have left.  It's too bad they can't just dance naked in the kitchen and chill outIn reality it's too bad I can't dance naked in the kitchen and just chill out too - menopause, the chill out killer.

    On to different things.

I have three children*, two of whom are in college.  One to be an engineer for wind technology and the other to be an animation artist.  It is a ying-yang kind of family:

    north/south     boy/girl     country/city     math/art     shy/outgoing.

And even though I know I shouldn't 'cause they wouldn't like it I'm gonna post their pictures because I'm a proud mom:

    Peter

I know you're not going to believe this, but I used to have issues about his hair.  I know, it was a shock to me too.  Now, if he cut his hair, I'd be wigged out.  (wigged out, get it?!  What a wit!  I slay me.)

    Michelle

Not hard to tell who is sillier.

But we had to go and break the balance and have a third child.  The youngest child is a young lady we adopted from India.  (I started blogging about that here.)

    Here's her picture:

    Seeta

     with a family friend

While my husband and I wanted more children since we both came from families with three children, we didn't want to add to the overburdened/populated earth AND there are so many who need a home and family.  We wanted to share our good fortune.  Michelle, who was 10 at the time of adoption, didn't agree with us.  She wanted to be the baby of the family and resented giving up that spot.

I then blogged about my journey to pick her up in India here, here, here & here.

Seeta is looking into heading away for high school next year so we will be an empty nest couple.  While I'm not worried, lately I have taken note of the many couples who haven't survived the empty nest syndrome and feel bad for so many couples with thirty years of marriage dissolved.

I'm looking forward to having more time with the hubby.  Frank & I will be able to take off during the week to travel if we don't have to be home for school kids.  It should be lots of fun!

  • You have some good-looking kids and they all have great heads of hair ...must come from their maternal side

And Seeta is gorgeous and,it seems, a very welcome part of the family

    xoxo

  • Hi Shari,

Loved the photos of your kids. We had three. We should have stopped at two. lol The third one was a nightmare to raise. lol

It was very nice of you to adopt. We have friends who adopted a baby girl from Red China. She is doing great and will soon be a teen. lol

We had a second empty nest. Our aging relatives died and emptied out the house.  Poor angels in heaven. Since my MIL got there, some are asking the Lord for transfers.

My first day of freedom went poorly--dead car battery and my Toshiba Notebook crashed and burned at Starbucks. lol

  • I had an empty nest for a whole year - now they are back. I'm seriously considering selling the house and moving far away...

  • I remember all your blogs about Seeta from reading them at the time - I was so happy to be a small part of that trip and have you visit! It's great to hear that your family is all doing well - hard to believe everyone is so grown up. Is going away to high school really a thing? Does she want to board somewhere? What a big step - but she's already been through lots of changes I suppose so I'm thrilled she's keen to throw herself into education like that!

  • @Want2FitIn2Fat2Fit - sadly, the hair is from their father's side of the family, I have wimpy hair
@ANVRSADDAY - One never knows what the children will be like... it is a crap shoot.  I'm sorry to hear about your MIL - amazingly my Frank's MIL is an angel and we all adore her...
@murisopsis - um, I totally understand, at least let us know where you end up
@Morgane - you were part of the best part of that trip my sweet!  (that and counting the steps we walked up - every time we walked up steps.)  Going away to HS is a good way to be involved with a community of people her own age.  We live in the boonies and there are no kids around us.  When she went to sleep away camp she blossomed, so this is like that.  Seeta is a VERY social animal and there is little to engage around here.  That and she is a teen and we'd get along MUCH better if we didn't live together.

  • You can have some of my hair...I have PLENTY
